To build twelve homes per year by the end of 2008

More than 2,000 households in the Danbury area meet current Habitat income guidelines ($26,000-$44,000 annually for a family of four). They are probably underhoused because...

  • a 1998 study found that one-third of area families paid more than the fair-market rent established by federal guidelines.
  • home prices have tripled nationally since 1977, with Fairfield County having among the highest housing prices in the country.

In 1999 our Board of Directors approved a strategic plan to take the affiliate into the new millenium. The Planning Group recommended four interrelated initiatives requiring partnerships with governments, churches, businesses, neighbors, volunteers, and other non-profit organizations. Our teams will:

  • consult with town officials and invite contributions to our "land bank."
  • develop a plan that increases fund-raising to $720,000 a year.
  • review current project plans and streamline the build process.
  • recommend administrative changes necessitated by growth.

All teams will seek out volunteers to build homes, work in the office, and serve on committees and/or the Board of Directors.

If you would like to join our team of volunteers, please contact the Habitat office at 203.744.1340 or send us an .

We're grateful for every single person who gives their time and talents to the Habitat cause.
